AVG is one of the best free antivirus programs out on the internet. Download the program - set the up dates to daily for the best protection for removing and catching viruses.
Probably the best thing you can do to prevent spy ware and virus activity is to use a non Microsoft browser. This is Mozilla the actual browser that ALL browsers were based upon. Download this browser and any of the companion features that come with it. Unfortunately not all web pages will work with non Microsoft browsers. So keep the old "E" browser handy but use Mozilla for all of your daily browsing.

Sometimes AVG does not catch everything all the time, so an occasional visit to Trend Micro catches and fixes some things that AVG can't.
SpyBot checks for spy ware that usually slips in while using Microsoft's Internet explorer (see Mozilla below). These spy ware programs don't hurt too much, but are annoying for pop ups and can slow down your internet connection. Not to mention other annoying things we don't know what.
Hijack this is a fabulous program that removes the programs that "hijack" your computer such as setting your default page to porn sites or search engines. Unfortunately it can also remove wanted things like your Google or Yahoo search bars. Not that you cant reload them later which we do. So if your still frustrated then as a final resort download......
Symantec maintains a set of programs that will specifically remove a virus. Sometimes virus programs can not remove a virus because the virus has infected the procedures that the virus detection program needs for removal. Therefore companies like Symantec have written programs specific to the virus to deal with these types of situations. Once you have identified the virus on your computer go to this link and download the fix for the specific virus.

Zone Alarm is a software based firewall that blocks other systems from attacking your computer. If you just want to go on the internet and have a reasonable firewall protection then load Zone Alarm. It is a bit annoying at first telling it what can and can not access your computer but in the end run it certainly saves time on getting rid of Trojan programs etc.
All of the above programs have been tested by us. We strongly recommend that you use all of them. The few minutes that it will take to download them will save you money and time spent on fixing your system.
